My 17.5 mile run took me through a number of central London’s public parks, including Regent’s Park, St James’ Park, Green Park, Hyde Park and Kensington Palace Gardens. The air had turned a little chilly, and it felt more like Autumn than an August morning. I’m not ready to say goodbye to Summer just yet!
The Camberwell Kitchen is a Gluten Free supper club, run by Rosie, Ant and Sally who I went to uni with. They’re doing so well, having been voted one of the top Supper Clubs in London meaning that tickets sell out in minutes! On Sunday they had set up shop at Cornercopia in the buzzing passages of Brixton market for five sittings for a three course brunch.
We started with Bloody Mary’s, the perfect beginning to any post-run brunch in my opinion.
We’ve all had bananas and pancakes, however none of us had eaten caramelised banana with pancakes before. It was like a pudding. I could have eaten a stack of these dense yet fluffy banana flourless pancakes served with creamy Greek yogurt, caramel sauce and toasted almonds.
The main course was colourful and amazing; sweetcorn fritters with chili jam and maple bacon, tomato salsa, a lot of guacamole (my fave) and carrot and beetroot slaw. This is definitely going to be added to my post-long run breakfast menu. Hands down my favourite course (although closely followed by the banana pancakes!)
By the time we’d left in a food-filled stupor, it was pouring down outside and I was feeling more than a little smug that I’d finished my run and could head home to enjoy the rest of my lazy Sunday.
