The 9th June, a day I’ve been thinking about for a while because it means the start of the three month countdown until our wedding day!
So many people have asked how it’s going and the answer is…fine. We could have a wedding tomorrow with all the things we’ve organised however it’s the little touches, the personal items and crafty bits that I haven’t done yet. Things cost SOO much money when it comes to weddings, it’s crazy, so there have had to be some big compromises on things and some plan changes but I think we are getting there.
Its been a weird time, with a Dad that isn’t in my life and a Mum that has been living on the other side of the world in New Zealand, my Aunt has been a godsend when it comes to wedding planning. She’s been the one who has been my sounding board, my wedmin manager, and helped me find my wedding dress – which I’m finally trying on in my size this week before the alterations begin. I’ve definitely found it tough though, and at times completely overwhelming. It is supposed to be the happiest of times, yet I have found it a time of sadness too.
Whilst I literally cannot wait to marry Tom, I haven’t enjoyed wedding planning as much as I thought I would however we are finally getting there with organisation (despite a mini panic attack yesterday over bridesmaid dresses that I’ve managed to sort today thankfully). Plus I’m not in the shape I thought/hoped I would be in this close to the wedding thanks to over stressing, over eating and under exercising during my revision period.
A week spent in a bikini in the South of France has been the kick in the butt that I’ve needed to realise that no matter what other people think, I want to look and feel better in my wedding dress and on my honeymoon. Feeling great is such a mental thing for me. In summer’s past I have been mid-marathon training when I’m on holiday, so have been running 40+ miles a week as well as strength training (ish) before slipping into a bikini, whereas this year it’s been straight after exams and after a dramatic cut in mileage after the Boston and London marathons.
From Monday I’m going to be working regularly with a PT in Henley, not only to tone my back, arms and stomach, but to work on my strength and mobility for running. Part of me is slightly tempted to sign up for a race and use that as extra motivation to train hard this Summer that’s outside of aesthetics…
Things I am loving in the lead up to the wedding is the stationary… I’m trying not to share things before my friends/family see them on the wedding day, but here’s our Save the Date, designed by my lovely friend Izzy.
I’m going to share my monthly progress as I work with David, my PT to get back to a body that is strong and fills me with confidence, as well as prepares me to run another marathon in the next 12 months, faster than ever before (I hope!). Thanks for sticking with me during the period of quietness – I’ve missed you all! xx
