Akaroa

Akaroa (prounounced Ak-a-row-a) is a little town south of Chrischurch, on Akaroa Bay.

The drive was about an hour and a half from Christchurch, although it was pretty windy for the last half hour. The scenery was beautiful and we stopped a couple of times to take photos on our drive down.

We were staying at a cute little guesthouse called ‘Room with a view’ run by such a sweet lady called Rosemary. She was so welcoming and had arranged fresh flowers in all of our rooms.

After a cup of tea on the porch, Mum and I went off to take some photos of the bay. The light was gorgeous and stayed bright until 9pm.

I have taken far too many photos in New Zealand already- believe it or not, some serious culling has taken place before I have posted these. There are about 500 to choose from!

After taking 1001 photos, we met up with Char and Dave and went to supper at the Bully Hayes on the waterfront.
I enjoyed my first glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc of the holiday, and a local salmon dish. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. The salmon is from Akaroa, and they claim it’s the best in New Zealand!
I loved Akaroa and would definitely recommend anyone visiting the Christchurch/Canterbury region to visit. The views across the bay are certainly worth the trip.
