Breakfast at 26 Grains, Covent Garden

26 Grains Covent Garden

Whenever I meet up with PRs or fitness friends, we meet for breakfast. It’s a great way of making the most of the day, plus I get to try out new restaurants for my favourite meal!

Last week I had a really interesting meeting with Jen from Join In, a charity that is trying to get more volunteers involved in sport- obviously something I’m excited to get involved in.

Run by Alex, this new porridge cafe has been top of my must try list for a while as their delicious creations constantly pop up on Instagram. And it did not disappoint.

Tucked away in Neal’s Yard, the recently opened restaurant has a menu that changes monthly, and features fresh seasonal produce in their sweet and savoury porridges. Based on the Scandinavian concept of ‘Hygge’ which apparently translates to ‘cosyness’. And the exterior cafe matches the warm fuzzy feeling that the bowls of porridge give you.

It was genuinely tough to decide which bowl I was going to have, but I eventually opted for the blueberry porridge with coconut, strawberries and almond butter. Wow- so pretty, so tasty.

Jenny went for what would have been my second choice, banana, cocao nibs, coconut yogurt and maple syrup. It looked like a cross between a banana spilt and ice-cream sundae.

With 5 or 6 different types of porridge, both hot and cold to try from, I can’t wait to return to 26 Grains. Next time I’ll bring someone who I feel comfortable stealing food from!

If you’re in central London and looking for a delicious, nourishing breakfast, I’d highly recommend 26 Grains, or stop by for a quick coffee anytime. They also do lunch that I’ve heard is great, if it’s as pretty as the brekkies then you’re in for a treat.

Hi. I work for a a property company in London which produces a restaurant guide with reviews of restaurants that are situated in our properties across the West End. I am embarking on collating reviews for 50 or so of our restaurants for a Bloggers Guide and would like to use the review you wrote for 26 Grains. Would you be kind enough to let me know if it is possible to use the review and maybe a photo?Obviously we would credit you and send you a couple of copies once printed. The guide is used by us internally for tenants, potential new tenants and investors. Look forward to hearing from you. Fiona
