Chicago Marathon Training Week 3

Jul 12, 2015 | Uncategorized | 4 comments

My jeans are fitting a little more snuggly, my trainers are feeling slightly under loved and my anxiety towards the 26.2 miles on the 11th October is increasing. Game, consider yourself being upped next week!

Monday- Too hungover to move, but I did carb load like a champ.

Tuesday- Second attempt at 10 miles, 5 of which were with Leah! So much fun to run with her again. She and Jason stayed for a night with us in Portugal on their epic honeymoon.

Wednesday– MY BIRTHDAY

Thursday– Barrecore. Worked from home during the tube strike so didn’t have to rush off after class, it was lovely, this must be what ‘ladies who lunch’ feel like!

Friday- Rest. Breakfast with my Mum at The Shard, 12 hour flight to Kuala Lumpur on Malaysia Airlines for a blogger exchange with Evelyn of Missy Blurkit. I slept for almost the entire flight!

Birthday up the shard

Saturday– 11 miles on the treadmill at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur gym. For me, doing anything more than speed work or a 30 minute session on the treadmill is too much, but with the time difference and humidity, this was the best option. The gym was amazingly well stocked with state of the art equipment, yoga mats, a foam roller, a huge selection of weights plus headphones you can borrow.

11 miles at 9 min pace.

Sunday- Reformer Pilates class and 3K sweaty run around KLCC park.

Hope you had a great week, and thank you for all the lovely birthday wishes! x

Enjoy every moment and great job squeezing in two long runs!! 10 + 11 miles is nothing to sneeze at!

Hi Charlotte, I’ve been following your blog for a few months and am finding it really motivating as I start training for the New York Marathon this April ( thank you).

I live in Singapore and ( as you probably know from your trip to KL), I’m finding running in 30 degree heat and humidity really challenging. I travel a lot with work too, and need to complete some of my long runs towards the end of the program while away for the weekend. As you did 11 miles on the treadmill, what are your thoughts on doing ling runs on the treadmill if weather or location make it difficult? Any tips for still getting the mileage benefit ( and getting through the tedium of that much time with no change of scenery) would be much appreciated.

    Thanks so much,

    Becky
