4 Days until NYCM

The title of this post scares me a little.

Knowing that my second marathon is only 4 days (and a 7+ hour plane ride away) is both nerveracking and really, really exciting! As I mentioned last week, the work has been done, I now just have to trust my training, and keep mentally strong.

Week 10 and 11

Monday – 30 min run and Barrecore Class

A new Barrecore studio has opened up near my office, and they’re offering lunchtime express classes. I thought the 30min session would be a good stretch but not too tough- how wrong I was! The class was seriously intense and I was dripping with sweat within minutes. The class combined some short cardio bursts with a lot of ‘pulsing’ movements. When we moved to the bar and stood on our tippie toes, my legs were shaking uncontrollably!

Tuesday- 400m repeats on the treadmill

15 min warm up, 8 x 400m sprints @6.35 min mile pace, plus 10 min cool down. I had to do my sprint repeats in the middle of a treadmill interval class- slightly embarrassing! I got chatting to the guy next to me (during our ‘rests’) and have agreed to join the interval class when I get back from New York! Not sure what I’ve got myself into, there was sweat flying off those guys!

Wednesday– Pilates

Thursday– 6 miles in Putney

It was my first pre-work run with Stephanie, and it all worked pretty much according to plan (except a delayed train!). We ran 6 miles along the river, chatting about her Paris Marathon (it seems like everyone is running it!) I’m hoping we can make our early morning runs, followed by coffee, a regular thing even after I finish marathon training.

Friday– Rest

Saturday– 10 Miles along the River with Jess in my Marathon Outfit!

Wore my new Lululemon Pacesetter skirt and kept a steady pace, around 9.45-10 min miles along the Thames. It felt easy and we chatted the whole way- hoping that when I stop talking I’ll be able to keep the pace for 26.2 miles!

Sunday– Rest

Went to the Om Yoga show and saw a few interesting goodies, but on the whole, wasn’t overly impressed. Maybe it’s because I’m too obsessed with all things running!

Monday– Sports Massage and 45min easy run

Tuesday– Accidental Rest

And planned for the rest of the week…

Wednesday-1000m repeats on the treadmill

Thursday-45 Min run before my flight

Friday– Rest/Marathon Expo

Saturday-3-4 mile run with Gia!

I’m seriously excited to meet my marathon coach, and get to run with her!

Sunday- MARATHON DAY!

I’m hoping that I’ll be able to blog whilst I’m in New York- I’ve got a couple of guest posts organised and I’ll check in when I can! Bring on the 26.2!!! Thank you so much for all the lovely words of luck, encouragement and support whilst I’ve been training. I really, really appreciate every comment! xx
