Treat Friday: breakfast, a foam roller and a new cup

Mar 1, 2013 | Recipe, Recipes for Runners | 3 comments

It’s the little things that brighten my day…

This morning I had breakfast at Duck and Waffle, in the Heron Tower. It’s on the 40th floor, so the view over London is amazing. Apparently. Unfortunately it was incredibly misty this morning so we couldn’t see very far. I did manage to take a couple of photos though…

I had a delicious breakfast of fresh orange juice, a latte, and Duck egg cocotte with mushrooms, truffle, gruyere and toast soldiers. So good. The restaurant is open 24hrs a day, and serves an all day menu as well as breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. A lot of it is featured around duck and duck eggs! I’ll definitely come back on a clearer day to appreciate the view!

Since it was payday yesterday (whooop!), I treated myself to a foam roller to massage and loosen my legs in preparation for this weekend’s half marathon. I have been meaning to get one for ages and used treat Friday as an excuse!

I’m hoping my calves, quads and hamstrings will thank me for it come Sunday.

My other treat to myself was an cup for my post-gym smoothies (that I will be having in the future now that I have this cup, obviously). I am a bit odd and have to drink a smoothie through a straw, so now I can. Plus I’m hoping that having this on my desk will encourage me to drink more water throughout the day. It’s one of my major goals in March, to drink more water. I have also signed myself up to three Pilates classes next week- a treat for my body I hope!

How are you treating yourself this Friday?

Oh I love the idea of a Friday treat, I think I’m treating myself with a special salad with goats cheese and blueberries and some chocolate later. I love my foam roller but need to use it more!

I really need to invest in a foam roller now I’m upping the mileage! Might treat myself to one and a new gym bag too 🙂

Who wouldn’t want to have breakfast while staring at that breathtaking scenery! The old notion of breakfast being the most important meal of the day has not withered. That being said, the food and the ambiance must jive or you might ruin your meal, which would ruin your day consequently. On another note, I’m kind of curious to find out how dinners are like in Duck and Waffle. Hope you were able to get back there to give us more insights!
