5 Confidence Boosting Takeaways from Donald Trump (yes, really)

Dec 13, 2016 | Uncategorized | 5 comments

Yes, this is still a running blog – despite today’s blog title.

First, obviously I am not American but I was firmly Team Hillary.

Love trumps hate

Secondly, this is not a political blog however I do think it’s important to stand up for the things you believe in.

So despite me not being a Trump fan, I do think there some important takeaways from his presidency campaign that could make us all a little bit stronger, braver and more self-assured….

Even when things seem unlikely, keep fighting for your dreams.

Sometimes, you might be the only person that doesn’t think your dream is ridiculous/unlikely/laughable (or terrifying, depending what that particular aspiration is). As DT proved, if you have self belief and a lot of money  determination, you can succeed, regardless of how big your goal. Whether it’s running a PR, earning your BQ, writing a book or becoming CEO one day…Don’t give up hope.

Not everyone will like you, and that’s OK

In life, you won’t like everyone and not everyone will like you. In fact, I was once told that if there’s no-one that doesn’t dislike you, then you’re probably pretty boring. Have opinions, have morals, do the wrong thing for the right reasons… just don’t be a dick.

You don’t need to be an expert

DT has reminded us time and time again that he is not an expert, with some rather questionable stats and statements coming out of his mouth. You may not be an authority but your personal experience and knowledge is useful and could be helpful to someone. Share your advice, listen to others, keep learning.

Break the mould

There was a playbook to running for President, and DT threw that out the window. Do your own thing, stand out from the crowd and you will get noticed. Just because everyone is doing one thing, doesn’t mean that you have to, and if you’re the only one doing ‘your thing’ then props to you. Carve a niche, embrace your creativity and believe in yourself.

A novelty hat goes a long way

Insert t-shirt/socks/stash – anything to make you feel part of the team. Join a club, or create one, just make sure there is novelty kit.

How about….grab that training plan by the pussy. Or…if you don’t like the way the race is panning out, get your powerful friend to hack into the website and influence things. #stillwithher #sigh

Ha! Good take-aways. I’ve been shaking my head for the last year now. I feel like the whole election was one big episode of Punked and I’m just waiting “You’ve been Punked!”
